Hosted by Rohnerville PTO and The Women's League of Voters

Rohnerville School District Has A New Superintendent

My name is Alan Brainerd, and I would like to introduce myself to the  Rohnerville School District community.  The Rohnerville School District  Board of Trustees appointed me Interim Superintendent at their September 15 meeting.  I replace Dr. Rob Williams, who accepted a position as  Superintendent of Black Oak Mine Unified School District in El Dorado  County.  I will be working two to three days per week for the remainder  of the school year, and am excited for the opportunity to be with a  great staff and very supportive community.  I am no stranger to the Eel  River Valley, having been the district superintendent and high school  principal in Ferndale until my retirement in 2007, and  superintendent/principal in Hydesville prior to going to Ferndale.  I am  a lifelong educator, with over 40 years of experience as a teacher and  school administrator.  I live with my wife Rosalinda on the Van Duzen  River a few miles west of Bridgeville.  We are both avid golfers, and are members of Redwood Empire Golf & Country Club.   I would welcome parents or community members to drop by and meet me at my office at  Ambrosini Elementary School.

Welcome, Parents & Friends!Top

We are committed to providing a safe, enriched, student-centered learning environment where all our students can:

Thank YouTop
The Rohnerville School Board of Trustees and staff would like to thank the community for supporting our Measure M, Bond effort. In passing our bond measure, it is evident that you trust in our schools to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students. We received an A+ rating from Standard and Poors and with that, the bonds sold at a 3.77% interest rate. This excellent credit rating and interest rate were awarded us due to the strong financial management of the district.

This will provide us with the money needed to make necessary health and safety improvements and modernization upgrades to our schools. We will begin the safety and modernization projects as promised. A Citizen Oversight Committee will monitor our expenditures and insure that your bond dollars are being used where we said we would focus them.

Again, thank you Rohnerville Community.

Santas Sleigh Service Top

The members of the Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department Company 2 would like to thank you for your generous contributions to our food barrels for our Santa's Sleigh Service for the past Christmas Seasons!
Last year we served approximately 20 children who were disabled or had special needs, and 200 seniors.  They each got a Teddy Bear, Candy Cane and some special time with Santa.  Also, we brought Christmas to approximately 150 families (a total of 300 children) giving them clothes, toys and a box of food on Christmas Eve.

We need your help with collecting food.  We need non-perishable food items to give to the families in need in the Fortuna area.  We have barrels placed in your classrooms and would appreciate any donation you can make to help make Christmas a "filling one" this year.
We are going to reward the class that brings in the most non-perishable food items will receive a pizza lunch from Round Table Pizza in January. We will be collecting the barrels on Friday, December 16th.

Without all your continued support, we could not serve the Fortuna Community as much as we have in years past.  As the needs of our community continue to grow, we appreciate all of your future contributions.

Thank you,
The Fortuna Volunteer Fire Department, Company 2

Whooping Cough BoosterTop

The following requirement has been amended to allow students extended time to get the immunization. all students MUST have the booster by September 30, 2001.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Whooping cough (pertussis) has been widespread in California. Many students have had to miss school because they were sick.

To help protect your children and others from whooping cough, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.

For the 2011-12 school year only, all students entering 7th through 12th grades will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.

Thereafter, in future school years, only students entering 7th grade will need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.

By law, students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start school until proof is provided to the school. (The tetanus-diphtheria booster shot, Td, will not meet the requirement.)

Please see the school office for more information about the Tdap vaccine and this immunization requirement.

We want to make sure your child starts school on time. I urge you to:

1.      Review new requirement with your doctor.

2.      Get your child's Tdap shot now.
A large number of students need a Tdap shot between now and the start of school next year. Make an appointment with your child's doctor or clinic for your child to get a Tdap booster shot now. Avoid the back-to-school rush.

3.      Save your proof of immunization.
Be sure to keep the written proof of your child's Tdap booster shot in a safe place. Your child will need to provide proof of immunization in order to start school.

Getting the adolescent whooping cough shot now will not only help protect your child against the ongoing threat of whooping cough but will also meet the new school requirement.

If you have any questions, please contact the School Office or the Humboldt County Health Department.
